Glenwood Cemetery

Last Sunday we drove up to Park City to visit the Glenwood Cemetery. Travis thought it would be a Halloweeny thing to do. I think he thought it would be scary, but it was so pretty! There was a gentleman there working when we first arrived & he said there were over 900 graves there with 250 of them being children under the age of one. It felt like there were grave after grave of headstones that just said "Infant" with the family name. Most of the headstones read dates in the 1800's and early 1900's. We did see one with a burial date in 2010. We saw one headstone that said he was a Civil War Veteran. It was common for the headstones to say something like, "Aged 39 years, 6 month, 14 days". I found that very interesting. I wish current cemeteries still had these old stand-up headstones. I think they are so pretty and so unique.

  1. It's Halloweeny and strangely beautiful at the same time. I loved the history piece attached. I need to learn more about the history of this state, it is fascinating. ...j
